If the DarkWEB were a person, this would be the person your parents would always warn you about.... Those "Bad People" in the world. The Dark Web is a hidden universe contained within the “Deep Web”- a sublayer of the Internet that is hidden from conventional search engines. The search engines you use everyday like Google, BING and Yahoo only search .04% of the “surface” Internet. The other 99.96% of the Web consists of databases, private academic and government networks, and the Dark Web.
The US Navy first utilized the Dark Web "a.k.a. darknet" back in the 1990s when a group of mathematicians began working on a concept called "Onion Routing". They needed a way to communicate with intelligence assets anonymously so they built a very unique browser, an "Onion" browser, they named TOR. This browser will allow for access to the "Dark Web" which is estimated at 550 times larger than the surface Web and growing. Because you can operate anonymously, the Dark Web holds a wealth of stolen data and illegal activity.
Unfortunately, tools like the Dark Web and TOR, that were created for the good of mankind, seem to always get used for, and by, the worst of mankind as well. Infamous Darkweb sites like Silk Road, Silk Road 2.0 and Black Market Reloaded attracted the worst elements on the planet. If its illegal, you would have found it there. I say would have because these sites have now been tracked down and shutdown! However, more sites pop up daily. In this article I will not be sharing current active site names.
WARNING: If you are NOT a Cyber Security expert or extremely knowledgable in the ways of the DarkWEB/Darknet, Please Please PLEASE, DO NOT attempt to locate a TOR, or Onion type, browser. Just because you can find a TOR browser, install it and get on the DarkWEB does not mean you should.
DOUBLE WARNING: You cannot UNSEE what is on the DarkWEB. It is not a safe place and should not be visited.
Now, with those warnings clearly stated, here is a small sample of the bad things that would be found on the DarkWEB.
Human Trafficking (Men, Women, Children... awful awful things!! )
Child Porn
Guns (not just small guns but massive amounts of illegal weapons)
Drugs (every drug you can imagine and a thousand percent more!)
Hitman services (don't even think about it... you'll be caught!)
Cannibalism (what's wrong with people?!?!)
PLUS all your Personal information! (Bank accounts, passwords, everything you DON'T want people to know about you!)
and the rest just gets worse if you can imagine that...
